Here’s a quick update on anti-social behaviour locally. We know it can be distressing, but we’re working closely with partners to make the area safer and support residents.
Combatting Anti-Social Behaviour in Abbey Road Ward
Message to Abbey Road Residents:
Your local Neighbourhood Policing Team, in partnership with Westminster City Council, is actively taking action to address anti-social behaviour and drug-related activities across the ward. We know these issues cause distress to our community, and we are heavily targeting resources at problem hotspots including the Wharncliffe Estate, Violet Hill Gardens, and Hamilton Gardens.
What we are doing:
• Precision Patrols: Officers are conducting highly visible, targeted patrols at peak times across the Wharncliffe Estate and surrounding areas to deter offenders.
• Plain Clothes Operations: We are deploying plain-clothes officers and conducting intelligence-led, covert operations with specialist teams to disrupt drug activity.
• New Enforcement Powers: We are utilising the city-wide Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which gives officers stronger, uniform powers to issue on-the-spot fines for nuisance behaviours, street drinking, and drug-related activity.
• CCTV & Evidence Gathering: We are maximising the use of both police and council CCTV units in the Abbey Road area to identify offenders and secure prosecutions.
• Community Engagement: We are hosting street briefings and community drop-in sessions to give residents a safe space to share local intelligence directly with us. Your ward officers will be at WHARNCLIFFE GARDENS ESTATE, community centre hall today between 13:00 and 15:00 to discuss local issues.

• In an emergency: Always call 999.
• Non-emergency / On-going issues: Call 101 or report it via the Metropolitan Police Online Reporting System.

• Anonymous reports: Information can be given entirely anonymously through Crimestoppers.
